On 23 June 2020, the Mexico National Seismological Service (SSN) reported a 7.5 magnitude earthquake near Crucecita, on the coasts of the state of Oaxaca. The earthquake, which occurred at 10:29 am, was felt in the state of Oaxaca, Guerrero, Chiapas, Michoacán, Jalisco, Querétaro, Morelos, Tabasco, Veracruz, Puebla, Estado de Mexico, and in Mexico City. As of 1:00 PM, 303 aftershocks were registered, the largest being of magnitude 4.6. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), tsunami threat has now largely passed, although a warning was previously issued for Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, and El Salvador. According to media, one person died and one was injured in Crucecita, and minor damage was recorded in some buildings and structures.
