On 4 December 2020, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), reported a fire that began on Wednesday 2 December and  burned private and state land in and around Silverado Canyon, Portola Hills, and Foothill Ranch, California (combined population is 23,812). The fire burned 6,777 acres of land, threatened 54,600 homes, 19 nearby hospitals, 31 nursing homes, and 23 Dialysis Centers. To date, 61,555 people have been evacuated and 2 shelters are open.
