On 14 December 2020, the National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED), reported low temperatures over the weekend in the departments of Guatemala, Quiché, Sololá, Totonicapán, and Quetzaltenango where 144 persons were housed in 8 different shelters. To date, a total of 742 people were housed in shelters at 50% capacity due to COVID-19. In order to accommodate more people, 6 more shelters are preparing to open.
