On 27 August 2020, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA) reported that Tropical Storm Hernan is 95 miles southwest of Cabo Corrientes Municipality, Jalisco State, Mexico with tropical-storm-force winds extending up to 105 miles from the center. In addition, media reported, heavy rain caused by the storm affecting several households in Juxtlahuaca Municipality. On 26 August 2020, the Guatemala National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED) reported heavy rain occurred on Tuesday, 25 August and affected Chimaltenango and Quiché departments. In Chimaltenango Municipality, 125 people were affected and 25 homes were damaged. Overall, at the national level, the rainy season in the country has affected 16,272 persons and 530 homes; 7,785 were evacuated, and 484 were housed in shelters.
