On 14 August 2020, media reported heavy rain and an overflow of the Amana river affecting 1,037 families in San Simon community, Maturin Municipality, Monagas State, Venezuela. Humanitarian and medical assistance was provided to Amana Abajo and Amana Tamarindo communities. Additionally, 686 persons were clinically assessed and the most common pathologies detected were: diarrheal syndrome, scabies, common cold, high blood pressure, and diabetes mellitus. On 14 August 2020, media reported a fire started on Wednesday, 12 August in the Cerrado area, Cuiabá city, Mato Grosso State, Brazil and in the Pantanal area of Mato Grosso do Sul State. Due to wildfires and drought in the Pantanal, nearby locations such as Corumbá city, Cuiabá, and Poconé (Mato Grosso State) are affected the most by fog and smoke. The report noted wildfires cause an increase in respiratory problems caused by smoke in the population, which overburdens the healthcare systems during the coronavirus pandemic.
