On 6 April 2020, the the Guatemala National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSVUMEH), reported that the Fuego Volcano has been generating moderate explosions and a column of ash rising between 4,500 and 4,700 meters above sea-level. Ash were dispersed toward the southwest direction for approximately 15 kilometers; ash-fall was reported in Sangre de Cristo and Yepocapa communities, among others.
