Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (update)
On 22 April 2021, according to the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) Bulletin No. 75, a high seismic tremor started at 11:09 A.M. generated by explosive activity and lasted for about 20 minutes. A vertical explosive eruption plume rose above the crater reaching a height of about 8 km. During the initial stages of the explosion, a base surge (pyroclastic density current) was observed traveling down the western flank of the La Soufrière Volcano. According to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Agency (CDEMA), the Argyle International Airport is scheduled to reopen on 24 April. Guatemala (update)
On 23 April, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) updated the situation caused by heavy rain in the department of Quiché. According to the information provided, there were 9 incidents reported, 6 landslides and 3 floods, in the municipalities of Chicamán and Usptantán affecting 1,550 persons of which 1,495 were evacuated, 34 have been sheltered (23 in Salón Comunal de Santa Cruz Zapote in Chicamán and 11 in the Evangelic Church Xin’a in Uspatán), while 165 homes reported damage and another 7 remain at risk.
