On 2 April 2020, the Government of the Province of Jujuy in Argentina reported that, heavy rain caused flooding and overflow of the Chijra, Rio Grande, Xibi Xibi and Los Blancos rivers, resulting in the evacuation of more than 70 families in Chijra neighborhood of San Salvador de Jujuy, Jujuy. Other neighborhoods affected include Los Blancos and Tupac Amaru. In addition to San Salvador de Jujuy, additional towns were affected in the south and east of the province.
