Guatemala (Update)
On 18 August 2020, the Guatemala National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED) provided an update regarding the impacts of the rainy season in Guatemala. Per the update, 1,043,589 people were affected (an increase of 14,987 since the last report on 9 August), 3,719 were injured (an increase of 370), and 7,588 were evacuated (an increase of 238). Additionally, a total of 1,695 homes were moderately damaged, 265 homes were severely damaged, and 152 highways were affected. The report is available in Spanish at: CONRED.
 
Paraguay 
On 18 August 2020, the Paraguay National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) reported hail and storms affecting several areas in Asuncion city, Central, and Itapúa departments over the weekend. SEN provided humanitarian assistance to 751 families in the Departments of Central Itapúa. The report is available in Spanish at: SEN.

United States of America

On 18 August 2020, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), reported a fire began burning the previous day, 17 August, in Nevada Country, California threatening 350 homes west of Nevada City (population 3,000). Currently, there is an evacuation center established in Penn Valley, California and there have been 6,000 mandatory evacuations. In addition, historical sites, a county jail, and a high voltage transmission lines serving multiple communities along Highway 49 were affected.  The report is available in English at: FEMA Daily Operations Briefing
