The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) launched the first edition of the Latin America and the Caribbean Code Against Cancer. The new Code, which forms part of the World Code Against Cancer, aims to help reduce the burden of cancer in the region by providing recommendations based on the most recent scientific evidence.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has published a special issue on childhood cancer in the Pan American Journal of Public Health, to commemorate the first five years since the launch of the WHO Global Initiative of Childhood Cancer (GICC) in 2018.

This special issue highlights the joint accomplishments and challenges in childhood cancer in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and encourages all Member States to strengthen health services for childhood cancer control, improve access to diagnosis, and treatment, and increase survival.

Advancing the development of a rapid service assessment tool for care in response to sexual violence

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has been developing a rapid evaluation tool to assess the quality of care in response to sexual violence. This tool has the potential to be used and adapted by Ministries of Health throughout the Region in order to improve care for survivors of sexual violence in accordance with regional standards and national protocols.

World leaders, cervical cancer survivors, advocates, partners, and civil society came together to mark the third Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action. The initiative, which marked the first time the Member States adopted a resolution to eliminate a noncommunicable disease, has continued to gain momentum, and this year's commemoration promises to be a beacon of hope, progress, and renewed commitment from nations worldwide.
