Why a teleKIT

The selection of these devices was carried out after the joint work of different areas in PAHO and in order to provide care of:

• Quality: the selected devices comply with quality parameters that ensure their proper functioning and are adapted to use in the field.

• Comprehensive: they give the possibility of carrying out a complete examination of the patient.

• Supportive: they make it possible that in remote areas, and in the case of  non-professional or semi-professional telecare, the data necessary for decision-making can be sent to the reference center, avoiding unnecessary transfers.

• Integrated: the devices were selected considering international interoperability standards, so that their use can be integrated into the OPS platform or any other EHR.

• Appropriate: follow the care models recommended by PAHO.

• Practical: they consider security against theft or vandalism and mobility and easy handling as a predominant factor, to facilitate its use in remote areas.

• MULTIPARAMETRIC MONITOR: Allows the capture of various vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature and blood sugar.

• ELECTROCARDIOGRAM: for monitoring cardiac pathology, enables the recording of heart rhythm and the detection of cardiovascular disease.

• DIGITAL STETHOSCOPY: for health checks and monitoring of chronic pathology.

• DIGITAL CAMERA: for a variety of graphic records, ranging from recording the evolution of a wound, to its use as a dermatoscope or otoscope.

• ULTRASOUND: for the diagnostic evaluation of various pathologies, the monitoring of chronic pathologies and the care of women and pregnancy.

• STADIOMETER: for health control, mainly in childhood.

• SCALE: for general health control, growth monitoring in childhood and control of chronic pathology.

• SPIROMETER: record of respiratory function, mainly in chronic patients and evaluation of respiratory capacity in older adults.

• FETAL MONITOR: control and monitoring of pregnancy.

• MOBILE X-RAY: for diagnostic evaluation and monitoring of chronic pathology.

USES

• CHILDREN, BOYS AND TEENAGERS: Periodic assessments of children's development, including general clinical control and growth monitoring that requires the use of devices to record signs. These check-ups help detect and prevent potential health problems from childhood.

• HEALTHY ADULT: Healthy adult health check-ups involve regular assessments to monitor general health, including physical examination and recording of signs such as blood pressure or weight, essential to maintain well-being and prevent future health problems.

• WOMEN'S HEALTH: Women's health encompasses a range of medical and preventive check-ups specific to their well-being, such as regular gynecological examinations, breast and cervical cancer screening, contraceptive advice, prenatal care, menopause management, and mental and emotional health support. Many of these check-ups require the recording of signs for which medical devices are needed.

• PREGNANCY: Pregnancy monitoring is crucial for maternal and fetal health. It includes regular prenatal visits to monitor pregnancy progress, health screening, fetal growth monitoring, childbirth education and preparation for motherhood, as well as nutrition counseling and prenatal care.

• CHRONIC ILLNESS: Health monitoring for chronically ill patients involves continuous, personalized monitoring to manage their long-term medical condition. It includes regular visits, treatment adjustments as needed, education on disease management, emotional support, and coordination of multidisciplinary medical care to improve quality of life. Recording and monitoring of signs requires the use of devices that are provided within the teleKIT.

• ELDERLY: Health monitoring for older adults focuses on maintaining and improving quality of life as they age. It includes periodic medical evaluations to detect and manage chronic diseases, promotion of healthy lifestyle habits, prevention of falls, vaccination, comprehensive mental and social health care, and support for autonomy and independence. Recording signs through devices helps standardize monitoring and facilitate follow-up.

INTEGRATION

• INTEGRATED / INTEROPERABLE USE:
   The teleKIT is used in an integrated manner, the values are transmitted directly to the clinical record, without the need for transcription. 

• NON-INTEGRATED USE:
  The devices are not integrated into the record, so the data obtained through the devices must be transcribed into the record.
