EMERGENCIES  WHAT TO DO IN A STORM

Tropical Storm Beryl is currently exiting the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico and it is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico in the coming hours.

There is an increasing risk of damaging hurricane-force winds and life-threatening storm surge in portions of northeastern Mexico and the lower and middle Texas Coast late Sunday and Monday.

Currently, NOAA has issued a Hurricane watch for Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande northward to Sargent, and for northeastern coast from mainland Mexico from Barra el Mezquital to the mouth of the Rio Grande. Additionally, a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for coast of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico west of Cabo Catoche to Campeche.

In recent days, Hurricane Beryl has affected several countries and territories in the Caribbean, including the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, Jamaica, Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) country offices in the Caribbean are working closely with the Ministry of Health and other partners in affected countries to coordinate the health sector's needs assessment and response actions to address the health needs of the affected populations.

Further information can be found in the PAHO/WHO situation reports below.
