Webinar - Oropouche: Entomological Surveillance and Vector Control
In this activity, the current epidemiological situation of Oropouche in the Americas will be presented. Also, the main aspects of entomological surveillance and control of Culicoides paraensis will be discussed and the experience of entomological research during an Oropouche outbreak will be presented, among others.
Date: September 6, 2024.
Time: 02:00 pm - 04:45 pm (Washington DC Time)
This event will include simultaneous interpretation to Spanish and Portuguese
Objectives
- Present the current epidemiological situation of Oropouche in the Americas.
- Discuss the main aspects of entomological surveillance and control of Culicoides paraensis.
- Update knowledge about the risk of involvement of new species in the transmission dynamics of Oropouche.
- Present entomological research experience during an Oropouche outbreak
Expected Results
- Provide updated data on the geographic distribution of the disease in the region.
- Detail the entomological surveillance strategies to detect the presence of Culicoides paraensis and the control measures.
- Present information on the relevance of other vector species involved in the transmission of Oropouche.
