Organizers
The Transatlantic Dialogue is a series of events of a joint initiative by WHO/Europe, the Pan American Health Organization, and the Department of Health and Human Services of the United States of America.
Context
Novel and transformative governance mechanisms and supportive institutional arrangements at the national level are imperative for achieving international ambition on health sector climate action.
This Transatlantic Dialogue, the second in this series, aims to take stock of the many different modalities of governance and national and subnational institutional arrangements for effectively addressing climate change within the health sector in Member States across the Atlantic.
Purpose
To enable and facilitate the necessary transition in health sector governance for climate action, this discussion aims to:
- foster a shared knowledge of existing national institutional arrangements to integrate climate considerations into health governance and vice versa,
- acknowledge common and country-specific challenges,
- stimulate further follow-up discussion on exploring opportunities for mutual learning and support, including through existing mechanisms.
