To launch Vaccination Week in the Americas 2023, PAHO’s Director, Dr. Jarbas Barbosa hosted a regional virtual event. The event counted with the virtual participation of high-level national representatives from the countries in the Americas as well as a panel of experts from governments, partners, technical experts, and civil societies to discuss the importance of strong immunization programs for the Americas.

Other regional and global authorities and partners who have been integral to the success of the immunization program in the Americas were invited to attend the virtual ceremony.
The focus of the event was on the safety and effectiveness of all vaccines to prevent new outbreaks, and on the importance for persons of all ages to receive all vaccine doses for which they are eligible.
