Advancing Universal Health Coverage for Refugees and Migrants: From Evidence to Action
2 - 6 December, 2024
Background
Currently, more people are on the move than ever before, with approximately one in eight people globally being migrants or forcibly displaced. Although not inherently less healthy than local populations, millions of vulnerable individuals face worse health outcomes, especially in settings where living and working conditions are poor.
The fifth edition of the WHO Global School on Refugee and Migrant Health will be held from December 2 to 6, 2024, and broadcasted online from Bogotá, Colombia, with the theme “Advancing towards Universal Health Coverage for Refugees and Migrants: From Evidence to Action.” The event is organized by the WHO’s Health and Migration Programme in close collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and it is hosted by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia.
This five-day course brings together governments, UN agencies, researchers, NGOs, and civil society to share experiences, identify gaps, and pave the way toward inclusive healthcare solutions. Between 2020 and 2023, the Global Schools were held in Switzerland, Jordan, Bangladesh, and Senegal.
Audience
The target audience includes health sector officials and government representatives, health managers, policymakers from health and non-health sectors, public health experts, international and non-governmental organizations, youth associations, and other relevant sectors contributing to the health of refugees and migrants.
Format
The event will be conducted in both English and Spanish. Virtual participation is open to all. Register now:
