The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is pleased to present four new free online courses that you can find and take on the PAHO Virtual Campus for Public Health. These courses, designed and created by PAHO experts, are aimed at health professionals interested in deepening their training in immunization topics.

Targeted Audience

  • Health professionals entering the workforce or looking to update their technical skills.
  • Managers of national EPI programs in the Americas interested in enhancing their knowledge and management capacities of the national vaccination program.
  • Students and faculty in the health and public health sector.

Objectives

1. Course: Basic concepts on immunization

To communicate the basic concepts about vaccines and vaccination operations to all health professionals to generate greater trust among patients and promote vaccines in their community.

2. Course on Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD)

To provide essential and updated information on 15 VPDs, their modes of transmission, case definitions, diagnostic methods, and the vaccination schedule recommended by PAHO.

3. Course on Surveillance and information systems

To offer essential and updated training on surveillance operations to national EPI personnel working at all levels to ensure the identification, notification, and response to outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD).

4. Course: Management of the Expanded Program of Immunization

To provide essential and updated information on the implementation of the management of a national EPI, so that participants understand the main operations and components of the program.
