Situation Report: Mpox Multi-Country Outbreak - Region of the Americas - 18 November 2024

Between 2022 and 31 October 2024, a total of 115,101 confirmed cases of mpox have been reported globally. The Region of the Americas (57.6%) contributes the largest proportion of cases, followed by the European (24.7%) and African Regions (12%). In the Region of the Americas, as of 31 October 2024, 66,368 confirmed cases of Mpox were reported in 31 countries and territories. The highest proportion of cases was recorded in 2022 (57,677 cases, 87%), with a downward trend in 2023 (4,043 cases, 6%) and 2024 (4,648 cases, 7%). The first case of mpox clade I in the region was identified in the United States of America.

As of 31 October 2024, the North American subregion reports the highest burden of Mpox cases and the South American subregion has the next highest proportion of cases, followed by Central America, and the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean Islands.
