The Pan American Health Organization is pleased to present the second edition of the Manual of procedures for the surveillance and control of leishmaniasis in the Region of the Americas, a support instrument for management and service areas that work with leishmaniasis. in the countries of the Region. The manual aims to expand knowledge about the disease and aspires to be a work tool for health personnel and management teams to provide support to ministries of health in their respective processes of structuring health services, as well as in optimizing activities to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with leishmaniasis. In this second edition, the epidemiological data and recommendations have been updated, in line with the Guidelines for the treatment of leishmaniasis in the Region of the Americas, published in 2022. In addition, all chapters have been reviewed and complemented to offer countries updated information that will contribute to strengthening surveillance, assistance and control of cases in humans, vectors and reservoirs.
