The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) publishes the Immunization Newsletter four times a year in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information on immunization programs in the Region of the Americas and beyond. The English and Spanish versions have been published since 1979, while those in French and Portuguese have been published since 2001 and 2019, respectively. The December 2024 / January 2025 issue of the Immunization Newsletter covers the following topics: World Polio Day: 30 years since elimination in the Region, the Americas regain measles-free status, NITAG meeting summary, JRF 2023 data infographic, review of population denominators for immunization with the assistance of geospatial technology:pilot for the Americas, EPI manager training courses, cold chain in Cuba, Vaccine Safety Network website launch, simulation exercises in the Americas to strengthen preparedness towards vaccine implementation, Regional Revolving Funds biennium report, and Annex to the Field Guide on Maternal and Neonatal Immunization for Latin America and the Caribbean: Annex on Maternal Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine. The Latin American Center for Perinatology (CLAP)/Women and Reproductive Health (WR), together with the PAHO Special Program on Comprehensive Immunization (CIM), has developed: Maternal and neonatal immunization field guide for Latin America and the Caribbean: annex on maternal respiratory syncytial virus vaccination. This document, currently in Spanish only, will also be published in English. It is intended to serve as a practical guide for decision-makers on the planning and coordination of immunization programs. It is aimed at health personnel who work in maternal-perinatal health and immunization services at all levels of care in the health system, and who care for and advise women and their families on recommended vaccinations during pregnancy.
