The document builds on and incorporates the most recent technical and programmatic guidance issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) for Prevention and Treatment of HIV Infection in Pregnant Women, Mothers, and Children, as well as the regional resources already developed and lessons learned from the mid-term evaluation and program assessments conducted in several countries during recent years.
