The World Health Organization (WHO) has noted that vector-borne diseases, such as dengue, yellow fever, and others caused by viruses transmitted by Aedes mosquitos, malaria, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and plague account for around 17% of infectious diseases worldwide and each year are responsible for more than 700,000 deaths (1). |
