This document reports on the application and implementation status of the International Health Regulations (IHR or “the Regulations”) and compliance therewith. The report covers the period from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019, updating the information submitted to the 164th Session of the Executive Committee in June 2019 (1) and complementing the information provided in Document A72/8, presented to the 72nd World Health Assembly in May 2019 (2).
The current report reviews activities undertaken by States Parties and the Pan American Sanitary Bureau (PASB) in response to acute public health events, including public health emergencies of international concern (PHEIC), as well as activities for the purpose of capacity building. Finally, it highlights issues requiring concerted action by States Parties in the Region of the Americas and by PASB to enhance future application and implementation of the Regulations and compliance with them.
