IHSLAC Articles and Photostories - Country in Focus: Honduras

The geographic areas of intervention in Honduras include 11 municipalities in six departments: Atlántida, Choluteca, Colón, Comayagua, Gracias a Dios and Olancho. It will support the implementation of a national health system in the selected areas of intervention, as well as the development of capacities in the prevention and control of diseases that affect women and children under 5, with a focus on indigenous communities. The initiative will also support the development of cost-effective interventions to improve the quality and safety of patient care, the updating of integrated vector management practices, the development of sanitation capacities and the development of nutritional guidelines.


Domestic Violence in Honduras

As part of the IHSLAC Project, self-help groups have been established to help communities prevent domestic violence. Women who suffer violence are identified and integrated into groups that include men and women in the community and offer support to survivors of violence. READ MORE

 


Breast Milk

Breast milk is the optimal food for all newborns, provided exclusively during the first six months of life and supplemented with other foods until at least two years of life, which contributes to its development and optimal growth, according to the evidence shown by the World Health Organization and that it is significantly promoted by PAHO, UNICEF and all the most relevant pediatric scientific societies worldwide.
