World Hand Hygiene Day 2024
Accelerate action together. SAVE LIVES – Clean Your Hands
Each year the World Health Organization (WHO) SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands 5 May campaign aims to maintain a global profile on the importance of hand hygiene in health care and to bring people together in support of hand hygiene improvement worldwide.
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are among the most common adverse events that occur in the context of healthcare delivery: every year, 136 million cases of antibiotic-resistant infections associated with healthcare occur worldwide.
In response to this, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is extending an invitation across the Region of the Americas. This year, the focus is on promoting knowledge and capacity building of health and care workers through innovative and impactful training and education on infection prevention and control, including hand hygiene.
Why is sharing knowledge about hand hygiene still so important?
Because it helps stop the spread of harmful germs in health care.
