COMMIT TO QUIT
In commemoration of World No Tobacco Day (celebrated annually on May 31st) the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Country Office of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Trinidad and Tobago, has developed a Commit to Quit tobacco cessation campaign to guide smokers to the tools and resources they need to successfully cease tobacco use.
Objectives of the Commit to Quit campaign are to encourage smokers to quit tobacco by educating them on the harmful effects of tobacco use and guiding them to tobacco cessation clinics where they will be provided with the tools and support they need to cease tobacco use. The campaign also aims to address secondhand smoking and to introduce the public of Trinidad and Tobago to the Tobacco Control Act and the penalties for offenders.
The offline campaign is enhanced by the presence of billboards, shopping cart advertisements, newspaper inserts, and posters being disseminated throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
