Celebrating World AMR! Dr. Eldonna Boisson, PAHO/WHO Country Representative for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands, and Dr. Jessica Edwards, AMR Focal Point, Ministry of Health and Wellness pose for a photo during a community outreach

Nassau, The Bahamas - 28 November, 2023 - The Bahamas Ministry of Health and Wellness in collaboration with PAHO/WHO observed World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2023.

A series of webinars were hosted to make the public aware of the challenges surrounding Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and to remind healthcare workers of the role they play in reducing AMR instances. Expert panelists from throughout the region used the opportunity to engage with participants through vibrant discussions.

Staying true to #GoBlue, healthcare professionals were encouraged to adorn themselves in blue and to share their photos.

The week of activities culminated with a #GoBlue community outreach at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). Here, patients, healthcare workers, and visitors participated in trivia surrounding AMR. Persons were also encouraged to take photos with the #GoBlue frame and share on the social media platforms. The initiatives were well received by the PMH community.
