Severe Weather  

 

United States of America (Update)  

On 14 December, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided an update on the severe weather that impacted Kentucky and several other states. In Kentucky, temporary flight restrictions are in effect for Gravels and Bowling Green Counties. There have been 66 confirmed fatalities and 105 people are unaccounted for. Across the state there are 8 shelters with 276 occupants, boil advisories are in effect for 18,000 residents, and power outages are affecting 14,600 people. All major roads in Kentucky have been opened, some secondary roads remain closed due to debris, downed power lines, and fallen trees. In Arkansas 2 fatalities have been confirmed, there are 21 people who are injured, and 4 shelters have been opened with 27 occupants. In Tennessee 4 shelters are open with 6 occupants. Chile (Update)  

On 14 December, the Chile National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security (ONEMI as per its acronym in Spanish) provided an update of the Camilo Henríquez forest fire which has predominately affected the Castro commune. In total, 5.4 hectares were destroyed by the fire, 402 people were affected, and 3 shelters were opened to accommodate those who were displaced. A Red Alert for the Castro Commune remains in effect.
