Cryptococcosis is a disease that imposes a significant burden on HIV patients in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a prevalence of approximately 10% in individuals with advanced disease and a high mortality rate of between 15% and 25%. It is estimated that about 5300 cases occur in the region per year.
